If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. Casual Beach Maternity Photos in the South Bay

February 5, 2026

These casual beach maternity photos in the South Bay were so special. I just love photographing this chapter so much. The energy that exudes knowing your family is on the verge of something new is just the best!

We spent the evening playing along one of my favorite coastal spots in Palos Verdes. A location I return to often because of the variety it offers. From the greenery along the trail on the way down, to the rocky shoreline, wide-open sand, and those breathtaking cliffs rising in the background — it’s like getting five locations in one. And when the light shifts? Pure magic.

Beach Maternity Photography: Effortless, Natural, and Connected

This family came dressed in the perfect palette for a casual beach session — soft denim and white linen that felt light, effortless, and totally in sync with the surroundings. Mama’s bare belly peeked out in the sweetest way, adding such a raw, feminine beauty to the gallery. The South Bay beaches, whether Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, or Manhattan Beach are always my favorite for sessions with young children too. Having room to roam means kids can explore freely, and that freedom leads to the most beautiful photos. As a lifestyle maternity photographer, I always follow the rhythm of your family. No forced smiles or stiff poses.

From Golden Hour to Blue Hour: The Dreamy Light of a Beach Maternity Session

Golden hour is beloved for a reason, and on this evening it did not disappoint with its warm, glowy light. But then, as the sun dipped below the horizon, blue hour took over with that soft, romantic, almost cinematic light that makes everything feel a little dreamlike.

These transitions in light give your maternity gallery a beautiful sense of depth and emotion. It’s one of the many reasons I love ending beach sessions just as the sky starts to turn.

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET Jenna

Photographer, mother, beach lover, yogi, baker, and incessant picture taker.  Inspired by light, connection, and you.

I love true to life color and simple edits. I want your photos to stand the test of time. I love glowy golden hour light just as much as I love soulful black and whites. I love when you look at a photo and feel the image more than you see the image. I love laughter and silliness and quiet and connection. I love the unique story that gets told with every person I have the honor of working with.
