If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. You can also use our fave TinyJpeg to make them small so your blog posts still load quickly!

Los Angeles Senior Photo Sessions – What Families Need to Know

May 12, 2026

There’s something really special about Los Angeles senior photo sessions. That beautiful, emotional season where everything suddenly starts feeling real.

College decisions have been made. Graduation is around the corner. There’s excitement, nostalgia, anticipation… and the quiet realization that life is about to change.

I felt this so deeply during one of my recent senior sessions. I photographed a senior girl with her parents, and while we walked between spots, her mom and I started talking about college. She shared how excited she was for her daughter, but also how emotional it felt knowing she’d soon be leaving home. She kept saying, “It all went by so fast.”

And honestly, it got me emotional too.

As a mom myself, I suddenly found myself thinking about my own daughter, who’s only 8 years old, and how I’m already sad imagining the day she leaves for college. One minute you’re holding their tiny hand walking into elementary school… and somehow the next, you’re talking about dorm rooms and move-in dates.

Why Book Your Los Angeles Senior Photo Session in the Spring

Spring sessions have an energy that’s hard to describe until you experience it.

The pressure of applications is behind them. Seniors finally know where they’re headed next. They’re soaking in the last few months with friends, sports, hometown routines, and all the familiar places that shaped this chapter of their lives.

That emotional layer makes Los Angeles senior photo sessions feel deeper and more personal.

I especially love photographing seniors at the South Bay beaches and among the spring wildflowers in Palos Verdes. There’s something about golden beach light and blooming hillsides that feels hopeful — like the perfect backdrop for a season that’s all about transition and growth.

These sessions become so much more than a yearbook photo.

They’re used for graduation announcements, party displays, senior-year social media posts, and framed prints for grandparents and family members. And because sessions happen before graduation chaos fully sets in, families actually get time to enjoy the images while this season is still unfolding.

That part matters.

What Seniors Should Wear

The best senior photos happen when seniors feel like themselves.

For girls, simple white dresses are always beautiful in spring. They photograph so effortlessly against the beach and wildflowers and create a timeless, relaxed feel. I also love when seniors bring meaningful pieces connected to this next chapter — a college sweatshirt, university tee, or even a college banner for a few photos.

Those little details become incredibly special years later.

For boys, comfort and personality matter most. Neutral layers, casual beachwear, sneakers they actually wear, or clothing tied to their hobbies always photograph naturally. One of my favorite sessions included a senior bringing his skateboard down to Redondo Beach, and those images instantly felt personal because they reflected who he really was.

That’s always my goal with Los Angeles senior photo sessions: photos that feel authentic, relaxed, and true to this season of life.

What a Los Angeles Senior Photo Session Looks Like With Me

From the first inquiry, my goal is to make the experience feel easy and low-pressure.

We’ll talk through locations, outfits, timing, and the overall vibe your senior wants. Some seniors are drawn to Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach at sunset, while others love the soft spring blooms in Palos Verdes. Together, we create a session that feels personal.

On session day, we keep things relaxed and fun. Sessions usually include a couple outfit changes, time to move around naturally, and room to incorporate meaningful details like college sweatshirts, sports gear, instruments, or hobbies.

And if your senior feels awkward in front of the camera at first? Completely normal. Most do.

My sessions include lots of conversation and gentle posing. The best images almost always happen in the in-between — the laughter, movement, and little moments where they stop thinking about the camera altogether.

Book Your Senior’s Spring Session Before the Blooms Beat You to It

There’s a reason Los Angeles senior photo sessions have become such a favorite for families in the Spring. The South Bay beaches are beautiful. The Palos Verdes wildflowers are in bloom. The light feels soft and golden. But more than anything, spring sessions capture seniors right at the edge of everything changing.

Before graduation weekend. Before move-in days. Before childhood quietly gives way to whatever comes next.

These photos are about so much more than documenting senior year. They’re about holding onto this exact season for just a little longer.

If your senior is getting ready to graduate and you’ve been thinking about documenting this chapter before it slips by, I’d love to help you create something meaningful together. Whether your senior feels most at home barefoot at the beach, surrounded by wildflowers in Palos Verdes, or laughing through golden hour in their college sweatshirt, we’ll create a session that feels true to who they are right now. I love true to life color and simple edits. I want your photos to stand the test of time. I love glowy golden hour light just as much as I love soulful black and whites. I love when you look at a photo and feel the image more than you see the image. I love laughter and silliness and quiet and connection. I love the unique story that gets told with every person I have the honor of working with.
